We care for women with both benign and malignant gynaecological conditions, from abnormal cervical screening results, ovarian cysts, fibroids and uterine conditions through to complex gynaecological conditions and cancers.

Understandably, facing these conditions and being told you need to see a specialist – or may need a procedure or surgery – is daunting and you will no doubt have plenty of questions.

Meet Dr Yvette Ius, Specialist Gynaecologist and Gynae-oncologist

Dr Yvette Ius is a highly experienced gynaecological surgeon and gynae-oncologist with expertise in complex gynaecological and advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery.

Dr Yvette completed her specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology before undertaking further subspecialist surgical training in gynaecological oncology. She holds the RANZCOG Certificate in Gynaecological Oncology.

But expertise is only part of what Yvette believes good specialist care should look like. Her own experiences helped shape a very clear idea of the kind of practice she wanted Sorella to be: one where exceptional clinical care and genuine human connection go hand in hand.

Every woman is somebody’s sorella

Sorella is Italian for sister. The name is a nod to Dr Yvette’s Italian heritage, but also to something she believes deeply: every woman deserves the kind of care we would want for our own sister, mother or closest friend.

Yvette first understood the difference a trusted and caring medical adviser could make when her own family experienced cancer. Still a teenager, she knew she wanted to become a doctor – and ultimately to create a different kind of specialist practice.

Today, Sorella brings together an all-female team of experienced health professionals who share that vision. From the person who welcomes you at reception to the nurses and specialists involved in your procedure, you’ll be treated as a person, not simply a patient.

Based in Newcastle, Sorella Women’s Health is a private specialist practice caring for women from across the Hunter and Central Coast and welcomes patients from regional NSW and further afield.

For some women travelling from outside Newcastle, we may be able to have your initial consultation by video. Our team can let you know if this is suitable for you.

We do not bulk bill. You’ll need appropriate private hospital insurance.
